Donors come together for $150,000 impact on local endowment funds
Our endowment-building challenge is closed
We couldn’t be prouder of the generosity in our community.
In just nine days since we first announced our endowment-building challenge, donors gave $75,000 to 49 endowment funds at the Quad Cities Community Foundation. We matched those gifts dollar for dollar with funds from the Quad Cities Community Impact Fund for a combined $150,000 impact! With all the match funds claimed, our endowment-building challenge is now closed.
“This is a testament to what can happen when community members come together around a common goal—and a testament to how generosity can be the engine that powers that kind of collaboration,” said Sue Hafkemeyer, president and CEO of the Quad Cities Community Foundation. “We hope everyone who gave or helped spread the word feels as inspired as we do by this challenge and what it means.”
As contributions to endowment funds, the matched gifts will continue to grow forever, serving as critical resources for the Quad Cities region to respond to the most pressing needs and promising opportunities that lie ahead.
Donors gave to the endowment funds of their choice, from individual nonprofit funds and scholarship funds to family donor-advised funds and our Geographic Affiliate Funds serving communities beyond the Quad Cities. All matched gifts were new gifts, meaning gifts made from one existing Community Foundation fund to another were not eligible.
“We’re committed to partnering with donors to make an impact on the causes they care most about,” said Anne Calder, vice president of development. “With this challenge, we saw our community of donors truly lead the way, and it was our privilege to lift up their giving to help them make an even bigger difference.”
The match challenge may be over, but gifts to endowment funds at the Community Foundation will always make a meaningful impact on our community. Consider making a gift before the end of the year here.
