5 great ideas for year-end gifting and granting
10, 9, 8… Wait a minute—not so fast! 2022 will be over before we know it, but there’s still time to make a gift to your community through the Quad Cities Community Foundation.
Whatever wintertime holiday celebrations are meaningful to you and your loved ones, giving back at the end of the year is a wonderful way to make the season that much more special.
Here are five ideas to help you share your generosity before December 31.
1. Help a nonprofit thrive
With our new Giving Catalog, you can review and support specific projects and initiatives that our community’s nonprofits have identified as critical to their ability to thrive. Gifts of any size will make an impact! Explore the Giving Catalog
2. Impact your whole community
If you love working with the Community Foundation, consider gifting to the Community Impact Fund to join with others in meeting needs across the community or to a Friends of the Foundation Endowment Fund to support our work. Together, we can do far more than any one of us can do on our own! Find a fund here.
3. Honor someone special
Give a gift that always fits by making a charitable gift in honor of someone you love that will also do a world of good for someone else.
When you make a tribute gift to the community fund, nonprofit fund, scholarship fund, or donor fund of your choice, we will send a card to the honoree or their family to celebrate how they inspired your generous gift. To learn more, give Joscelyn Rowe a call at (563) 326-2840 or JoscelynRowe@QCCommunityFoundation.org or gift online through our website and select “Tribute” to add your honoree.
4. Give from your IRA
If you’re over 70½, you can gift your required minimum distribution or any amount up to $100,000 straight from your IRA to the Community Foundation. Reach out to us now to start this process, as these gifts take a bit of time to give. If you have an IRA checkbook, send it in early to make sure the gift can be deposited by the Community Foundation and clear your account by December 31 to count as a 2022 IRA charitable rollover.
5. Give cryptocurrency (new!)
Take advantage our brand-new option for cryptocurrency giving. This is a great way to receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of your cryptocurrency, avoid capital gains tax, and support the causes and the community you love most this holiday season. Our secure online giving platform accepts 40 different cryptocurrencies.
The Community Foundation office will be open December 27–30, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. For gifting assistance outside office hours, please leave a message on our main voicemail at (563) 326-2840 or email Anne Calder at AnneCalder@QCCommunityFoundation.org. And while you won’t need to put a bow on them, remember that gifts of stock, real estate, or other noncash assets may take longer to complete than cash gifts, so visit with us early for help wrapping up your generosity before the end of the year.
