Ten tips for year-end giving

This season provides an opportunity to reflect on what we have and how we can make a difference in our communities. Consider making a donation or grant in honor of a friend or loved one—it’s a gift that’s always the right size!

With 2024 right around the corner, we’re here to help with a few handy reminders.

  1. Our Giving Catalog is now open, offering you the opportunity to browse funding requests and support projects that local nonprofits have identified as critical to their work. Gifts of any size will be a meaningful show of support before the year ends! Explore the Giving Catalog.

  2. If you would like help choosing where to share your generosity this year, please contact us. You might also consider giving to a Community Impact Fund to join with others in supporting needs across the region or sending a gift to Friends of the Foundation Endowment Fund to support the Community Foundation’s services to your community! Find a fund here.

  3. Online gifts can be made until 11:59 p.m. central time on New Year's Eve and still be credited in 2023. Click here to make your year-end gifts online now.

  4. Notify us now of any gifts you’re sending from more complicated instruments such as stock, IRA distributions, or electronic fund transfers, as these require extra time and coordination to arrive at the Community Foundation.

  5. Stock gifts should be received by the Community Foundation's receiving institution prior to 3 p.m. on December 29 to ensure they will be credited in 2023. Contact our office early for stock transfer instructions.

  6. Not sure where you want your year-end gift to go? You can now open a donor advised fund with just $1,000. Open a fund before December 30 to make your 2023 year-end gift and decide later how you want the funds to be distributed. Read more about our new DAF policy here.

  7. Gifts mailed through USPS must have a visible postmark of no later than December 30, 2023, to be credited in 2023. Make all gifts payable to “Quad Cities Community Foundation,” with the fund name noted on the memo line.

  8. Gifts arriving via UPS or FedEx must be received at the Community Foundation by 3 p.m. on December 29, 2023, to be credited in 2023. Make all gifts payable to “Quad Cities Community Foundation” with the fund name in the note to be considered a 2023 gift.

  9. Gifts of cryptocurrency can be made until 11:59 p.m. central time on New Year's Eve and still be credited in 2023. Learn more about this new offering and make a gift here.

  10. Our office will be open December 26–29, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. If you seek gifting assistance outside office hours, please leave a message on our main voicemail at (563) 326-2840 or email Joscelyn at joscelynrowe@qccommunityfoundation.org

Thank you for all you do to support our mission and transform the Quad Cities community through generosity!
