Meet Megan Wright

In October, Megan Wright joined the Quad Cities Community Foundation as the new Development Assistant. She’s gotten right to work as a member of the development team and sat down to answer a few questions about her journey and her goals at the Community Foundation.

Welcome to the Community Foundation, Megan! Can you talk about the path that brought you to this position?

I was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. I’m always proud to say this wonderful community is my home. I have always had a passion for working with people and building relationships—I’ve done that work in lots of different settings. Eventually, it led me to a position at Genesis Medical Center, where I saw how my interpersonal skills could line up and support my values of helping people. I think I can make that connection even stronger at the Community Foundation.

What will your position entail at the Community Foundation?

The development team develops relationships with donors and the community. The team at the Community Foundation is incredible. They are experts, and they care deeply about this region. As the Development Assistant, I’ll support the team through research, meeting preparation, making processes more efficient, data upkeep, and anything else I can do to help colleagues and our amazing donors.

How has it been going so far?

It’s been beyond anything I imagined. From the engaging interview process, to the warm welcome, and the support I’ve received since, it has all been amazing. I feel supported, and I feel like they really want me here. The team is set up to help me grow and allow me to give all I can to the organization and our community.

What excites you about working at the Community Foundation?

I first learned about the Community Foundation because of their scholarship program. As a student, I saw just how impactful those can be. I love that, as an organization, we support a wide range of causes and make so many opportunities possible, including ways to meet new, unexpected challenges. Getting to be a part of that mission really excites me.

Right now, I’m focused on learning the ropes and doing everything I can to support the Community Foundation mission. I’m eager to share our work with the community and help make philanthropy accessible and impactful for everyone.
